  Sauti Sol is a Kenyan Afro-pop all male band.The band Sauti Sol was formed in 2005 as
an acapella group by Baraza,Chimano and Mudigi, who met in High School and did performances together in high school.Then they met guitarist
Otieno at the Alliance française in Nairobi, where they would frequent and
immediately wrote their first song,Mafunzo ya Dunia(Life lessons).They first named their band Sauti which is a swahili word that means voice.Then they added Sol which means sun in spanish.So the band name means voices of the sun and indeed their voices say it all.They all have amazing voices and their music is amazing.

All the four band members of Sauti Sol have attended different universities in Kenya.Which means they are scholars too.I first knew them when i saw their first music video of their song la zizi which means my love in English.And that is so far my favourite song even after the many songs that followed it.They have been nominated for many prestigious awards like Mtv African Awards,Chanel O Awards and many local awards.Most of their songs are in swahili language.They also use alittle english and lughya language.They do tour Africa,Europe and even the US.They are very well known and have done some collaborations with some big people in the music industry.They once lost an endorsement deal when they made a song called Nishike which means touch me or hold me.They released a steamy video to this song even all television stations in Kenya except one played the video.
But the video is played in other channels across Africa.Sauti sol lost the endorsement deal, the the endorsers said that they are pulling out because Sauti Sol is no longer family friendly because of the song Nishike(hold me) and the video to the song.I love Sauti Sol(voice from the sun) and can not wait to hear more from them.Sauti Sol say they get their music inspiration from musicians such as Fadhili William ,Daudi Kabaka,Salif Keita, Lokua Kanza and Fally Ipupa all from Africa and from British band Coldplay and American singer
Jason Mraz.Nowander their music is classic and never runs out of style.They also have a single called sura yako which means your face in English. This track is playful ,funny, romantic and very poetic. Sauti Sol is band that is going places.
